Air Pressure: Look for your tire air pressure
specification, usually written inside the door of your car.
Check
each tire's air pressure at least once a month. A typical tire
looses 1lb of air pressure a month.
Check your tire pressure before
going on a long
trip.
Load carrying capacity: Make sure that you do not exceed the
load capacity of your tires. The load carrying capacity is
usually
written
at
the
tire's sidewall. If you are not sure, ask the store professional
who sold you the tire.
Punctures: if your tire gets punctured by
a nail or you run over broken glass, have the tires checked.
Repairs can sometimes
be
made. If the puncture occurs at a place on the tire that cannot
be fixed, replace the tire.
Tread depth: Check the tread depth on the tire.
If it seems low or worn down, have a tire professional check
it
and replace
if
necessary.
Tire rotation: Periodic tire rotation
is necessary. This is usually 6,000 miles or every 6 months.
