CFC-R12 and R-134a

Due to environmental regulations, the production of refrigerant CFC-R12 which is known to contain ozone-damaging chlorofluorocarbons, was phased out in 1995. The replacement was an alternative R-134a which is ozone-friendly, nontoxic and nonflammable.

However, there are several options to the pre-1995 models which were equipped with CFC-R12 at nominal cost. For example, we can retrofit a car equiped with CFC-R12 with R-134a.
